step-by-step route: study section 2

Part C - Providing online support for learners in practice

Once the induction process is complete, your use of CMC techniques to provide online support for learners will begin in earnest. In this part of the study section, you will document your practice and the practice of your learners as you develop and use an effective online learning environment.

The emphasis here is on communication, both yours and your learners'. The activities will focus your attention on the main issues and will guide you in creating evidence for your portfolio. However, you should also remember that these activities will help you to reflect on your practice. Take this opportunity to step back and consider your effectiveness in supporting learning online, and identify your strengths and weaknesses.

As in Parts A and B of this study section, you should place your responses to the activities in your portfolio. Remember that you should be using a variety of CMC techniques in your support for your learners. In the activities that follow, you will need to provide information that relates to the range of techniques you are using, e.g. email, threaded discussion and chat. As before, you can adapt the activities to meet your own needs and submit work-based or 'what-if' evidence.
