This site
supports the Scottish Learning Network programme 'Providing Online Support
for Learners - An Introduction'.
The site
is a set of resources to be used as part of a programme of instruction
provided by local training organisations. It is not an online course!
It is also not essential to do everything - just focus on what is relevant.
The core
of the site consists of three 'routes' that are different ways of approaching
the same materials:
- step-by-step
route
- assessment
route
- activity
route
Different
learners will have different needs and interests, and so will find different
paths through the materials appropriate even within the same route.
It is essential,
as a tutor-candidate (i.e. someone studying the programme, and working
through the assessments to gain the qualification), that you get support
and guidance from your facilitator and other members of your group as
you work on items in any of the routes.
That said,
with occasional guidance and encouragement, there is a lot that you can
do independently, given the required time and motivation.
There is
a lot of flexibility involved in using these resources, but the routes
should go some way towards giving you enough structure to keep from getting
lost. If at any point you do feel lost, please contact your facilitator.
